The January meeting is coming soon!

Well hey there everyone!  I sure hope you all had a brilliant holiday season and that your shutter fingers are itching.  Our meeting is coming up quickly on the 27th of January at our regular haunt at the Newmarket Community Centre and there is work to be done!

In December we started a new model for the monthly challenges, Core Concepts and Creative License to get more folks to submit.  I am thrilled to see submissions from members who have not entered in the past!  This is terrific.  Our Core Concepts goal is "Rule of Thirds" and our Creative License goal is "Rear View Mirror"  I say "is" because entries have been a bit light, so you have until this Sunday January 11th at 6pm to submit entries for December.

January has two themes as well.  Core Concepts features Fruit Bowl and Creative License is Rumours.  Please send your entries by 6pm on January 25th to be sure that they make the slide show.  We already have some folks entering, and I am looking forward to seeing a lot more.

We will finally touch on the Perfect Photo Suite 9 demo that has been pushed back a couple of times, and Bryan will debut his new short feature called, I think, "Did You Know"  Should be useful content especially for our members who have new gear or who are still learning the basics.

If you are a club member and you have not yet joined our Google Plus page, you are missing out on knowledge sharing, some great images, constructive support from other members and our weekly assignments.  Head over here and ask to join.

Please don't forget that it's a new year and so 2015 memberships are payable at the meeting.  $40 per person for the entire year, CASH only please, no cheques, debit or credit.  I hope that we will have our usual crew of welcoming collectors Isabel and Stephanie there to greet you, make sure you are signed up and to accept your dues.

And even though the weather can be chilly and wet, be sure to keep your camera close and to get out and make images.  Minor hockey is just one way to have a great time and try the challenge of sports.  Only through continued application do our skills improve.  See you on the 27th!
