Wow the summer has just flown by! Our August meeting is this coming Tuesday August 27, 2013 and for one time only it is being held at the Ray Twinney Centre in Lounge #1 at 100 Eagle St. W. from 6pm - 9pm. As noted in my last communication we're streamlining our agenda a bit to give more time to discussion and questions.Grace Under Pressure needs entries!
Please be sure to email me your entries for our monthly challenge before Monday morning. There is still plenty of room in our review for YOUR image.
Images should be 1024 pixels on the long side, at 72 dpi and saved as JPEGs. No need to worry about EXIF data but do be sure that you include a title and how your entry fits the theme!
Training this Month
Following the FEC / Photo Review we've got a couple of interesting training events for you. Bryan is going to talk about the various options available to remotely control your camera. For macros, night shots, long exposures and myriad other purposes, remote control is a super tool. Spend time with us and learn best practices and about cool gear from Bryan. This topic is suitable for all skill levels.
Our second training will be oriented to the process to do Focus Stacking Using Photoshop. Often we just cannot get enough depth of field in a single image whether for a wide angle shot with close foreground interest as well as background subjects to close up and macro photography. I will share with you the thought process to identify an image that will be well suited for stacking and we will then go through a demonstration to use a series of images, perform basic manipulation and then stack them using Photoshop to produce a single image with incredible depth of field. Focus stacking is in every version of Photoshop from CS3 to the current CC so this is a widely applicable topic. This topic does assume some basic editing knowledge but all members will be able to understand what is going on and how to do it yourself.
A number of members wrote in with suggestions on how to serve a wider variety of people at our meeting trainings, so the Calendar has been updated through year end to help with this. When you go to the calendar on the web site and click the meeting event, you'll now see what we're going to cover and the relative level of complexity of the topic. We're also going to offer "breakout" sessions when appropriate so members can attend the topic of greatest interest to themselves.
Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday!
